Bringing Benjamin Home

Ahhh our last full day in Seoul and I'm a wee bit sad to be leaving this amazing city. An amazing city that gets started late but goes all night long. An amazing city that has a gentle balance of the old and new. An a amazing city that has brought us half way around the world to our little guy. An amazing city that will forever hold Benjamin's first years of life. And an amazing city that holds for us two very special ladies who will always be part of Benjamin's life. I know I hope to return one day and truly share South Korea with Benjamin as he explores his past and continues to build his future.

We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this journey. Having your prayers and support as we've navigated the world of adoption has been sooo much appreciated. It's reassuring and comforting to know we have cheerleaders like you on our's and Benjamin's side. Now as we head home, we'll continue to navigate our way and again appreciate your support and cheers.     

We are scheduled to return on Wednesday, January 15. Fred is currently on FMLA through the end of January and me through the end of February.  The time will be used to continue to bond with Benjamin as we're confident there will be regression and many more tough days ahead as he explores his new home and meets the pups.

As you can imagine, we are still adjusting to Benjamin, and him, to us. He's doing amazingly well, but it is a big change! He's never been outside of Seoul, never has been in a car seat, never has been away from his Foster Family, doesn't know English and the list goes on and on. 



When we return home, we are going to be a low-key family. Our main goal will be to get our family back into something of a 'normal' routine including play time, story time, leaving the house, hugs, kisses and meals around the table. We know you are excited to meet Benjamin, but we respectfully ask that you give us time to adjust. You will see us out-and-about and we can't wait to run into you at the grocery store, Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc! But, we will not be doing any major functions or outings for some time.



Also, we (adults) know Benjamin is with his forever family, but he does not know this yet. For all he knows, someone could pick him up and take him away again. To help continue to build our relationship with him as parent/child, we politely ask that you refrain from picking him up, feeding him, kissing him, etc. Right now, these tasks are reserved just for Fred and me. I know it's hard and you've waited as long as we have - he's REALLY kissable.  I hate to ask you to continue to wait, but right now our bonding is our highest priority. High fives, head pats, and big silly smiles are great along with an "I love you" : )
